Rose, a magnificent 20-year-old Belgian mare, teetered on the brink of slaughter with only 24 hours left. Her photograph, shared by the kill pen, shown here, evoked a compelling urge to save her. When Rose arrived, the sight was heart-wrenching. Her sheer size, emaciated, still inspired awe. It was evident that Rose had endured a life devoid of respect and dignity, yet she emitted love, presence, and healing energy that touched countless visitors.
Rose became a symbol of unwavering strength, reminding all of the importance of presence, respect, and self-awareness. She catalyzed personal growth and invited transformation. Following Rose's passing, our commitment to horse rescue deepened. We strive to extend a lifeline to equine companions, honoring Rose's memory and providing care, compassion, and dignity. Rose's spirit lives on, inspiring our meaningful difference, one horse at a time.
THE BACK STORY OF OUR NAME
The inspiration behind the foundation originated from the incredible rescue of Rose, featured above, but also from my mother. It is important to note that Rose was already named when she came to us, carrying documents from the kill pen bearing her name.
Coincidentally, Rose's arrival coincided with the week of my mother's birthday, a time that also marked the first anniversary of her passing. I took to social media to share the news of Rose's arrival, and a friend of my mother's reached out to me, inquiring about the name of my mother's guardian angel. At that moment, I had no knowledge of it. However, this friend shared with me a remarkable story. During a life-threatening car accident that occurred when I was a child, my mother revealed that she had experienced the presence of an angel who stayed with her throughout the night while she was trapped beneath her Corvette. Astonishingly, my mother referred to this angel as Rose.
From this extraordinary connection and profound revelation emerged The Rose Angel Foundation!
